Quinta do Lago North Course
This course has recently undergone a huge €10m renovation by Paul McGinley and Beau Welling, so it may come as no surprise to see this course on the list. It is one of the most stunning courses in Portugal, and you will understand why when you play there. All the tees, greens and bunkers have been completely rebuilt in the renovation. The South course may receive many of the plaudits, but the North course should not be overlooked.
Dom Pedro Golf Collection, Victoria Course
This course is a brilliant test for any golfer. It was designed by Arnold Palmer and it hosts the Portugal Masters every year on the European Tour. If that isn’t a testament to how brilliant this course is, then we don’t know what is. There’s plenty of sand and water, so it is important to be on the top of your game!
Vale do Lobo Royal Course
The photogenic properties of Vale do Lobo Royal Course are out of this world. It is often compared to the world-renowned Cypress Point in California, and that is no exaggeration., Its 16th is played across the cliffs which hug the shoreline, to a green more than 200 yards away. Dom Pedro Golf Collection, Old Course
This course was built in the late 1960’s, so it is actually the second oldest course in the region and is very much the respected elder of the Algarve. The Old Course demands precision play from golfers. Every hole is as picturesque as the last, so you won’t forget a round at Dom Pedro. The updates in 1997 to the Dom Pedro improved the course to what it is today and it stands proudly in the list of the best courses in the Algarve.
