Bergamo Golf Club L’Albenza
Located in the Orobic hills, Bergamo Golf Club is a 27-hole complex that gives golfers the chance to experience three different 18-hole courses. Whilst the original 18-hole course was designed by C K Cotton in the early 1960s, an additional 9-hole loop was added in 1987, transforming the club into the club it is today. Host to many tournaments including the Italian Open in 1996, Bergamo Golf Club is laid over hilly forested terrain that will test even the most experienced of players.
Circolo Golf Venezia
The oldest club in the region, Circolo Golf Venezia opened in 1930, with its first 25 members belonging to the noble families of the Venetian aristocracy. Stretching 6199 metres from the championship tees, the club is located on a strip of land between the Adriatic Sea and the Lagoon of Venice. Enlarged to 18 holes in 1951, Venezia is a unique blend of both parkland and links, with tree-lined fairways laid out on sandy soil. In addition to the usual hazards, players will also have to consider the bora and sirocco winds that increase the challenge.
Franciacorta Golf Club
Designed by Pete Dye in collaboration with Marco Croze, the Franciacorta Golf Club is a 27-hole golf facility which offers high-quality golf. Measuring 6.143 metres from the back markers, the Bruit and Saten nines form the championship 18-hole layout and play to a par of 73. Whilst The Brut path requires a combination of accuracy and power, the Saten path encourages a more strategic approach. The most recent addition to the Franciacorta club, the Rose path features undulating fairways and large greens which disguise subtle inclines.
Golf Club Padova
Originally designed by Commander John Harris in the early 1960s, Marco Croze constructed a further Rosso nine when more land became available in the 1990s. Previously known as Golf Club Euganeo, the club lies within the stunning Euganean Hills Regional Park. The course is laid on mostly flat land, with numerous water hazards obstructing play on the Blu circuit. Because of the tree-lined fairways, some holes are narrow off the tee, requiring strategic thinking and accuracy from players.
Golf Club Udine
Recently announced as a European Tour Destination, Golf Club Udine lies within the foothills of the Carnic Alps in Fagagna. Designed by Marco Croze, the original 9-hole course was opened in 1972, with a further 9 being constructed in 1994. Bordered by ancient oaks, wild cherry and alder trees, the course follows the contour of the hills, providing some incredible views of the area. Despite measuring a sprawling 7,000 metres, the club offers 3 different fitness trails to cater to players of all abilities.
