Golf Club Biella
Located on the slopes of the Serra moraine, just a few kilometres from Biella and Ivrea, Golf Club Biella, also known as ‘Le Betulle’ (The Birches) is one of the best golf clubs in Italy. Built in 1957, the course was designed by John Morrison and stretches impressively over 7,105 yards. Biella’s 18-hole course has a par of 73 and features a challenging selection of strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and rocky outcrops. This course is also where Rory McIlroy won the European Amateur Championship in 2006 and achieved the current course record of 65.
Golf Club Des Iles Borromees
Situated 500 metres above sea level, Golf Club Des Iles Borromees is located in a central position in Lake Maggiore. Offering incredible views of the Swiss Alps and the Ticino Plain, the Milan skyline and Lake Maggiore, Varese, Monate and Comabbio can often be seen from the 18th tee. Designed by Marco Croze, Des Iles Borromees offers an 18-hole par 72 course routed through hilly terrain lined with pine and silver birch trees.
Golf Club La Pinetina
Located alongside the Angelo Moratti Sports Centre, which serves as the Inter Milan training centre, Golf Club La Pinetina is routed through 175-acres of Italian pinewood regional parkland. Winding across the undulating landscape, the course allows players to enjoy the beautiful natural setting away from the distractions of the modern world. Featuring numerous elevation changes and bold bunkering, Golf Club La Pinetina is challenging for both amateurs and professionals.
Golf Club Le Robinie
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Golf Club Le Robinie offers an 18-hole course with a par of 72. Located 22km to the northeast of Milan, developers were required to move over two million cubic metres of soil to transform the largely flat plot into the courses present state. Featuring gently undulating fairways, and doglegged hole, both amateurs and professionals will be challenged by the layout. The course includes various hazards threatening play including lakes, contoured mounds and frequent bunkers.
Golf Club Monticello
Just 10 miles from the spectacular Lake Como, Golf Club Monticello stretches across beautiful Lombardy woodland countryside. Originally designed by Jim Fazio and Baldovino Dassu, the course has now been renovated by the Canadian architect Graham Cooke. Host to the Italian Open seven times between 1975 and 1992, Monticello offers two 18-hole courses playing to a par of 72, known as the Rosso and the Blu.
Royal Park Roveri Golf Club
Set within Parco Regionale Della Mandria, a former 16th-century hunting estate, Royal Park Roveri Golf Club boasts two 18-hole courses and a driving range, all of which are of excellent quality. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1971, the Trent Jones Snr course has been stated to be the best golf course in Italy, with the 17th hole being the best hole in Italy. Similarly, the recent addition of the Pramerica course has also helped to build the club an excellent reputation. A Hurdzan-Fy design, this 2006 parkland course was given the title of ‘Best New Course 2014’ by both Golf Digest and Golf World.
